In this scene, we have Rex, Mabel, Brad, Sammy, and Ben (although in this snapshot Rex is out of view).

Final Cut Pro X is the software of choice and by grouping parts of the scene in compound clips based on their location, especially depth towards background, pans and zooms are achieved by keyframing each compound clip along the timeline.

In this scene, Brad is explaining the benefits of nuclear fusion as a sustainable power source, but Sammy and Ben are hung up on the past negative events associated with nuclear fission, and are reluctant to accept the merits of fusion.

Rex plays an interesting role by graphically demonstrating the difference between the two by squeezing together two balls he’s levitating for fusion, and pulling apart one ball leading to an explosion for fission.

The scriptwriter did a great job of connecting the kombucha that Ben references in the line “booch not bombs, man” to the bomb discussion around nuclear fission. An excellent call back and characteristic of good comedy writing.
