In this moment here, Rex is chilling out on his UFO in power conservation mode. The lighting effect is created using the emissive material layer option in Vray. The blueish ground is the emissive material, and the light emitted reflects off the walls. Very cool effect.

Rex himself has an adjustment of color balance in the form of both hue and exposure.

As seen in the timeline, these sequence contains a fair amount of complexity. Before importing into this Final Cut Pro X scene, Rex is animated in Character Animator. Before ending up in the chair, he runs and jumps into a somersault and flips around to coyly finish in his relaxed posture.
